Want to learn more about the intertwining story that is Tesla and Elon Musk?There are many Elon Musk books available to read however this one dedicates its story to Musk and Tesla without losing focus on his other endeavours (think SpaceX and The Boring Company etc.).
The title also references ‘bet of the century’. The reader will come away convinced that Tesla was one hell of a bet. After learning about all of the various crisis, issues, financial troubles etc. one wonders how Tesla is still around. Furthermore, how has it been able to become the most valuable automotive company in the world? Bigger than many of the big players combined. The question really is whether Tesla is an automotive company? One would say yes and no. The more time goes on it seems that Tesla will grow into its valuation. That said, when the other big automotive OEMs catch-up will Tesla still have the moat it once had … time will tell.
I found power play to be very well researched and of course well written. The stories, characters and background were very rich and I felt part of the story. Note that I had read this prior to Tesla’s drop in 2022 and Musk’s takeover of Twitter.
