Progress update on my reading

I mentioned on a previous post that my goal this year would be to read at least 50 books. So far I am tracking to the goal (well .. sort of) and I believe my reading speed will improve thereby allowing me to hit the goal by the end of the year. Here is the list of books read so far:

1. The Greatest Minds and Ideas of All Time by Will Durant
2. Yes, And: How Improvisation Reverses “No, But” Thinking and Improves Creativity and Collaboration by Kelly Leonard and Tom Yorton
3. Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
4. What to do when it is your turn by Seth Godin
5. Waking Up: A Guide to Spirituality Without Religion by Sam Harris
6. Civilization and its discontents by Sigmond Freud
7. Michael Jordan: The Life by Roland Lazenby
8. The Happiness Hypothesis by Jonathan Haidt
9. The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham
10. Managing Oneself by Peter Drucker
11. The Lessons of History by Will and Ariel Durant
12. Made in America by Sam Walton
13. Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi
14. The Playboy Interviews: James Bond by Sean Connery, Daniel Craig and Pierce Brosnan
15. Tao of Jeet Kune Do by Bruce Lee
16. Getting Things Done
17. The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod

I have been following Tai Lopez’s reading philosophy in that I am reading typically three books at a time; a classic in the morning, a how-to during the lunch and a biography in the evening. I’m am not reading a book a day though and that is primarily due to me not utilizing skimming techniques and reading word for word. When I hit the middle of the year I am going to re-study skimming and utilize the techniques where it makes sense.

My plan for the latter part of the year will be to review some of these books that I found to be excellent in content. Stay tuned with more to come …
